The CUET-UG, a standardized test, was launched in 2022 with the aim of simplifying the admission procedures across various types of universities across the country. To date, 200 universities, including 46 central, 36 state, 20 deemed, and 105 private universities, along with six government institutions, have opted to use the CUET-UG scores for their undergraduate admissions.
In a significant shift from the traditional approach, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has proposed a hybrid examination format for the CUET-UG 2024. This includes both computer-based testing and pen-and-paper methods for different subjects. It has been indicated by officials that subjects with high registration numbers will use the pen-and-paper method with optical mark recognition (OMR), while the rest will continue with computer-based testing.
