Eligibility Criteria

Important Dates:

  • Starting date for online application – 26/02/2024
  • Closing date – 18/03/2024

Selection Procedure

Candidates will undergo a Computer Based Test followed by a skill test. The final selection will be based on the CBT score.

(i) Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria will need to participate in a Computer Based Test (CBT) conducted in either Hindi or English. The CBT will be divided into two sections, each containing 50 questions. One section will test Domain Knowledge and the other will assess Aptitude. The total duration of the CBT will be 90 minutes.

(ii) The cut-off marks for the CBT will be set at the 50th percentile for unreserved/EWS positions and at the 40th percentile for positions reserved for SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy Layer)/PwBDs. The cut-off will be calculated individually for each post/discipline.

(iii) Those who pass the CBT will be shortlisted for a skill test. The shortlisting will be done based on merit and at a ratio of 1:3 for each post/discipline. If multiple candidates achieve the cut-off marks, all of them will be invited for the skill test, which can be conducted at any SAIL Plant/Unit/Mines location.

(iv) The Skill Test is only for qualification purposes. The final selection will be based entirely on the CBT marks. If there is a tie in the CBT cut-off marks, the candidate with higher marks in the eligibility qualification will be chosen. The offer letter will be issued to the candidate with the highest marks in the CBT, considering the reservation criteria.

(v) A panel will be created for each discipline in merit order at a 1:1 ratio (i.e., the number of advertised posts : the number of candidates in the panel). This panel will be used if any candidates do not join after the initial offer of appointment. The panel will remain valid for six months from the date of its approval.

(vi) Candidates will be permitted to take the CBT/Skill Test upon presenting their call letter/admit card, a government-approved photo ID, and after completing Biometric authentication at the venue.
