Position Title: Assistant Director (Safety)
Total Vacancy : 7 (UR-06, EWS-01) (PwBD-01)
Nature of Posting : The post is permanent. General Central Service Group- “A” Gazetted, Non-Ministerial.
Pay Scale
Level- 10 in the Pay Matrix as per the 7th CPC.
Job Descriptions
- Assisting in carrying out surveys and research studies in the field of Industrial safety.
- Preparation of Safety literature, conducting educational and training programs.
- Dealing with matters concerned with Factories Act and Model Rules, enforcement of Dock Workers (Safety, Health and Welfare) Act, 1986 and the rules and regulations framed thereunder.
- Carrying out surveys in ports conducting training programs for the various levels of supervisory personnel and dock workers.
Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit
35 years for URs/EWSs, 45 years for PwBDs.
Educational Qualifications
Candidates should have a
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical or Chemical or Marine or Production or Industrial or Instrumentation or Civil Engineering or Architecture or Textile Chemistry or Textile Technology or Computer Science or Electronics & Communication of a recognized University/Institutes.
Experience
Three years’ experience in handling various aspects of industrial safety in a factory, dock, ship, construction site or physical and chemical testing of textiles in an industrial concern or research laboratory or a technical institution or organization or in a government department dealing with the administration of Factories Act 1948 (63 of 1948) or the Dock Workers (Safety, Health & Welfare) Act 1986 (54 of 1986) or the Building and other construction workers (regulation of employment conditions of services) Act 1996 (27 of 1996).
Desirable
- Master’s Degree in Engineering or Technology relevant to essential qualification mentioned above from a recognized University or Institute.
- Master’s Degree or Post Graduate in Industrial Safety from a recognized university or Institute.
- Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Safety from a recognized University or Institute.
- Experience in planning, organising and coordinating of research, education and training activities pertaining to industrial safety, dock safety and construction safety.

Cut off date for determining eligibility: Prescribed closing date for submission of online recruitment application (ORA).
Selection Procedure
Performance in Interview. Date for the interview on which the shortlisted candidates are Required to bring the printout of their online application along with other documents at UPSC shall be intimated separately.

Candidates must upload the documents/certificates in support of all the claims made by them in the application like, Date of Birth, Experience (preferably in prescribed format), Desirable Qualification(s) etc. or any other information, separately against each claim in pdf file in such a way that the file size does not exceed 1 MB for the respective aforesaid modules and 2 MB for the “UPLOAD OTHER DOCUMENT” module and is legible when a printout taken. For that purpose, the applicant may scan the documents/certificates in 200 dpi grey scale. Documents like Pay Slip, Resume, Appointment Letter, Relieving Letter, Un-signed Experience Certificate etc. must not be uploaded in the Document Upload Module.
Application Fee
Candidates (Except Female/SC/ST/Persons with Benchmark Disability Candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay a fee of Rs. 25/- either by remitting the money in any branch of the SBI by cash or by using net banking facility of any bank or by using Visa/Master/Rupay/Credit/Debit Card/UPI payment.
