The Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India has announced for the Recruitment of Engineering Graduates and Science Postgraduates as Scientific Officers.

The Applicants have to apply for recruitment as Scientific Officers (Group-A post of Government of India) through academic programmes : Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates and Science Postgraduates (OCES) -2024 and DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme for Engineering Graduates (DGFS) -2024

One Year Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates and Science Postgraduates for the year 2024-2025 (OCES-2024) will be conducted at the BARC Training Schools. The details of OCES disciplines and corresponding eligible qualifying degrees & eligible GATE paper/subject along with training programmes / Schemes that will be offered to selected candidates have been provided in the detailed advertisement available on the organisation’s website . Also the eligible disciplines and orientation of the Training Programme at each of the Training Schools have been provided over there. 1

As mentioned in the notification, A Trainee Scientific Officer (TSO), who will score a minimum of 50% aggregate marks on completion of the Training Programme, will be declared to have completed the course successfully.

As notified, upon successful completion the Trainee Scientific Officers (TSO) will be posted as Scientific Officers in one of the following DAE units:

    DAE Recruitment 2024 for Government Jobs / Sarkari Naukri : Selection Procedure

    Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates and Science Post Graduates (OCES)-2024 (Scheme-I) : This is a one year training Programme.

    DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme (DGFS)-2024(Scheme-II): Two year DAE Graduate Fellowship will be offered.

    The selection procedure which is common for both schemes has two stages. An initial screening will be done either by a GATE-2022/GATE-2023/GATE-2024 score in the applicable GATE discipline or by performance in an Online Test to be conducted on March 16-March17 2024.

    In the second stage, the screened in candidates will be called for selection Interviews to be held in Mumbai and Hyderabad during May – June 2024.

    Final selection is solely on the basis of performance in selection Interview subject to medical fitness.

    At the time of application, eligible candidates can choose any one or more than one of the above-mentioned screening options. As the cutoff GATE scores for screening in to Selection Interviews will be finalized only after the conclusion of the Online Examination, candidates are advised to maximize their chance of being screened in to the Selection Interview by availing or more than one of the Screening Channels viz., (GATE score, Online Examination & CGPA score of CBS/ NISER (if applicable).

    Candidates who opt for screening through Online Examination will be allotted to one of the exam city of their choice given during online registration, subject to availability.

    The candidates who have opted for screening on the basis of a GATE Score only or CGPA score of CBS/ NISER (if applicable) only will not be allotted an examination slot for the Online Examination. In case of candidates who opt for screening on the basis online exam along with GATE Score and/or CGPA score of CBS/ NISER (if applicable), they will also be allotted exam slot as per their city preferences. In addition, their GATE Sore and/or CGPA score of CBS/ NISER (if applicable) will also be considered for screening to selection interview.

    Candidates having a qualifying degree in Mechanical Engineering., Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, Electrical Engineering Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Instrumentation Engineering & Civil Engineering. and who meet the corresponding eligibility criteria are eligible to apply for DGFS provided they are selected for OCES-2024 and additionally secure admission for M.Tech. starting in the academic year 2024-25 in one of the selected DGFS Institutes.

    Securing admission in one of the valid M. Tech. specializations at one of the DGFS Institutes along with selection for OCES, make candidate eligible for DGFS program and DGFS Fellowship will be awarded as per the needs of DAE programmes and only to the most meritorious candidates as per Selection Interview performance.

    The candidates are required to apply online from 30/12/2023 till 30/1/2024 through Organization’s website.

    Candidate can apply for only one OCES screening discipline.4

    The candidates who wish to apply for screening on the basis of GATE-2024 score are required to fill in their GATE details after declaration of the GATE results, whereas those who wish to apply on the basis of a GATE-2022 or GATE-2023 Score must upload
    their GATE Score during the Application Process. Applicants with a GATE-2024 Score must register and fill in all details relevant to the admission process, prior to the declaration of GATE-2024 results, and on or before the last date of online application/ registration

No new applications, on the basis of a GATE score or otherwise, will be accepted after the last date of online application/ registration.     Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) 5

    The Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) is an Indian government department with headquarters in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. DAE was established in 1954 with Jawaharlal Nehru as its first minister and Homi Bhabha as its secretary.

    DAE has been engaged in the development of nuclear power technology, applications of radiation technologies in the fields of agriculture, medicine, industry and basic research. DAE comprises five research centres, three industrial organisations, five public sector undertakings and three service organisations. It has under its aegis two boards for promoting and funding extramural research in nuclear and allied fields, mathematics and a national institute (deemed university). It also supports eight institutes of international repute engaged in research in basic sciences, astronomy, astrophysics, cancer research and education. It also has in its fold an educational society that provides educational facilities for children of DAE employees.

    The important programmes of the DAE are directed towards:

    • Enhancing the share of nuclear power in the Power Sector by deployment of indigenous and other proven technologies, and to develop fast breeder reactors, as well as thorium-based reactors with associated fuel cycle facilities;
    • Building and operating of research reactors for the production of radioisotopes, building other sources of radiation such as accelerators and lasers, and developing and deploying radiation technology applications in the fields of medicine, agriculture, industry and basic research.
    • Developing advanced technologies such as accelerators, lasers, supercomputers, robotics, areas related to fusion research, strategic materials and instrumentation, and encouraging the transfer of technology to industry.
    • Carrying out and supporting basic research in nuclear energy and related frontier areas of science; interaction with universities and academic institutions; support to research and development projects having a bearing on DAE’s programmes, and international cooperation in related advanced areas of research and contribution to national security.
