Job Profile: Advisor – Railways
The Railways Advisor will play a pivotal role in reforming and upgrading existing signalling, communication, safety, and surveillance mechanisms within the Railways. By collaborating with key stakeholders, government agencies, technology providers, and industry partners, the Advisor will contribute to the development, modernization, and optimization of railway systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning:
- Develop and implement long-term strategies for Railway signalling, communication, control, and safety operations.
- Advise on safety protocols, compliance, and industry regulations specific to C-DOT products/solutions for Railways.
- Infrastructure Assessment:
- Assess and plan new Railway infrastructure requirements related to communication, signalling, and surveillance.
- Address mission-critical applications, M2M (Machine-to-Machine) interactions, AI applications, and security surveillance needs.
- Collaboration:
- Engage with government agencies, technology providers, regulatory bodies, and industry partners to execute collaborative Railway projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Telecommunication or Computer Science or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum 15 years of total experience in Information and communications technology.
- At least 10 years of experience working with Railways in senior positions.
Skill Set
- Leadership abilities and collaborative teamwork.
- Familiarity with budgeting, financial analysis, and project management tools.
- In-depth understanding of railway signalling, communication systems, and protocols.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards related to railway safety.
- Proficiency in designing robust communication networks for railways.
- Expertise in implementing security measures and maintaining surveillance systems.
Conditions for Engagement
- Initially appointed on a short-term contract basis for 1 year.
- Contract extension based on performance and service requirements (up to a maximum of three terms or age 65, whichever is earlier).
- Proficiency in office automation tools (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Engagement purely on a contract basis.
- Non-disclosure undertaking required.
- Flexible working hours, including weekends if necessary.
- Leave entitlement and travel allowances provided.
Remuneration
- Retired Government officers: Last Pay drawn (consolidated) plus DA minus Pension (if any).
- Industry candidates: As per industry standards.
- All-inclusive consolidated salary; no additional allowances.
- Medical facility as per C-DOT policy.
