    Oil India Limited Contractual Engagement

    Overview

    Oil India Limited (OIL), a Maharatna Public Sector Undertaking, is looking to engage personnel on a purely contractual basis at its Field Headquarters in Duliajan. These positions are temporary and will involve working in shifts, including arduous and hazardous jobs in remote locations, and “On-Call” duty. Only Indian Nationals are eligible to apply.

    • Contract Period: Initially for 6 months, extendable by three tenures of 6 months each, up to a maximum of 2 years, depending on company requirements, individual performance, and conduct.
    • Emoluments: The total contract emoluments consists of fixed and variable components. An incidental amount of ₹500/- per day will be paid for days worked outside the place of posting.

    Eligibility Criteria

    Contractual Chemist-Laboratory (01 No.)

    • Educational Qualification: Must have a Master’s Degree in Chemistry of a minimum of 2 years duration from a Government of India recognized University/Institute.
    • Experience: Minimum 2 years of post-qualification work experience in laboratory activities within the Oil & Gas Industry.
    • Age Limit (as on date of registration for Walk-in-Interview):
      • Minimum Age: 24 years
      • Upper Age Limit: 50 years
      • Reservation and age relaxation will be as per Government guidelines.

    How to Apply

    Interested candidates meeting the eligibility criteria must report for registration for a Walk-in-Interview process.1

    • Venue: OIL Human Resources Office, 5th Floor, Oil India Limited, Duliajan, Assam.
    • Documents to Bring (Originals and a set of self-attested photocopies):
      • Filled Personal Bio-Data Form (available on the last 2 pages of the advertisement)
      • One recent 3cm X 3cm coloured photograph
      • Valid Identity Proof and valid Address Proof from Competent Government Authority
      • Date of Birth (DOB) proof (Birth Certificate or Class X certificate)
      • Admit Card, Marksheet, and Pass Certificate of Class 10
      • Documents/Certificates/Testimonials of essential qualifications and Experience Certificates
      • Valid Caste Certificate (SC/ST/OBC), Non-Creamy Layer certificate, Income and Asset Certificate for EWS, Disability Certificate, if applicable
      • Valid Discharge Book/Service and Release Certificate for Ex-Servicemen, if applicable
      • No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the concerned employer, in original, if currently working in any organization

    Note: Candidates without original documents will not be allowed to appear for the interview. No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in the Walk-in-Interview.

    Selection Process

    • Method: Walk-in-Interview of total 100 marks.
    • Minimum Qualifying Marks: 50 for all categories.
    • Mark Distribution: Professional Knowledge and skills (in concerned discipline), Professional Knowledge and skills (in allied discipline), Personal Attributes and Soft Skills.
    • Final Selection: Based on merit as per marks obtained in the Walk-in-Interview among candidates who secured the minimum qualifying marks.

    Important Dates

    • Contractual Chemist-Laboratory:
      • Date and Time of Registration: August 4, 2025, 07:00 A.M. to 09:00 A.M.
      • Date of Walk-in-Interview: August 4, 2025

    Note: No candidates will be allowed to register after 09:00 AM. If the number of registered candidates exceeds the limit, interviews for the remaining candidates will be carried forward to subsequent days.

    Job Responsibilities

    Contractual Chemist (Laboratory)

    • Deployment at laboratory sections of the Chemical Department.
    • Carrying out laboratory analysis of drilling / workover fluid samples, crude oil samples, petroleum products (Motor spirit, HSD, condensate, etc.), lube oil samples, water analysis, corrosion studies, etc..
    • Operating laboratory equipment such as Gas Chromatography, UV-Spectrophotometer, Fann VG meter, Fluid loss apparatus, etc..
    • Generation of laboratory reports.

    General Conditions

    • The contract can be terminated with 15 days’ notice by either side.
    • Selected candidates must join immediately. An extension of a maximum of 15 days may be granted, failing which selection will be cancelled.
    • The contract period starts from the date of joining.
    • During Maternity Leave, only the Fixed component of the Contract Emoluments will be paid.
    • Candidates are responsible for their own travel and accommodation for the Walk-in-Interview.
    • Engaging in unfair means, impersonation, misbehavior, or obtaining support by unfair means will lead to disqualification and debarment.
    • Contractual engagement does not confer any right for regularization in OIL.
    • Submission of false certificates or incorrect information will lead to termination/disqualification.
    • Candidates must provide a fitness certificate from a Govt. registered medical practitioner and a character and antecedents verification certificate at the time of joining.
    • If working in another organization, a release letter in original is required at the time of engagement.
    • Selected candidates can be placed at any location deemed fit by the authority.
    • Accommodation costs during the engagement period will be borne by the candidate.
    • All applicable taxes will be borne by the individual.
    • Selected candidates are entitled to 10 days of paid leave for a 6-month period.
    • Oil India Limited reserves the right to cancel or postpone the engagement process without assigning any reason.
    • Candidates are advised to regularly check OIL’s website for updates.
    • Mobile phones, calculators, and other electronic devices are strictly banned at the venue. Carrying or using such items will lead to debarment, disqualification, blacklisting, and potential legal action.
