Aligarh Muslim University, a NAAC ‘A+’ Accredited Institution, Invites Applications for Teaching Posts
ALIGARH, U.P. – Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), which holds a NAAC ‘A+’ accreditation, has released an advertisement inviting online applications from Indian Nationals and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders for several teaching posts. The positions are for Assistant Professors in the Faculty of Medicine. This recruitment drive is detailed in Advertisement No. 01/2025(T), dated August 23, 2025.
Key Application Deadlines and Process
The deadline to submit online application forms is September 17, 2025, at 11:59 P.M. After successfully submitting the online form, applicants must send a hard copy of the application, along with all required documents, by October 3, 2025. Hard copies will not be accepted after 5:00 P.M. on October 3, 2025. The university has stated it will not be responsible for any postal delays.
The application process requires candidates to fill out the form exclusively through the university’s Careers Portal at https://careers.amuonline.ac.in. A non-refundable processing fee of Rs. 500 is required for each application and must be paid online. However, candidates with disabilities are exempt from this fee if they provide a valid disability certificate.1
After completing the online submission, applicants must take a printout of the PDF, sign it, attach a recent photograph, and include self-attested copies of all necessary documents, including the fee receipt. This completed packet must be sent by post to the “Selection Committee Section (Teaching), Office of the Registrar, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh-202002”.
Vacancies and Required Qualifications
The recruitment is for Assistant Professors in the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, with the following specific openings:2
- Assistant Professor, Department of Community Medicine: 1 position
- Assistant Professor, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery: 1 position
- Assistant Professor, Department of Pathology: 1 position
- Assistant Professor, Department of Radiodiagnosis: 2 positions
- Assistant Professor, Department of Surgery: 3 positions
- Assistant Professor, Department of Neurosurgery: 1 position
For most positions, the academic qualification is an MD/MS/DNB in the relevant subject. The Department of Neurosurgery requires a DM/MCh/DNB.
The pay level for all Assistant Professor roles is AL-10, with a pay range of Rs. 57,700 to Rs. 1,82,400.
Experience and Other Requirements
In addition to academic qualifications, candidates for the first five positions must have one year of experience as a Senior Resident in the concerned subject at a recognized medical college after obtaining their MD/MS degree. This requirement applies to new applicants starting from June 2017.
For those with a Diplomate of National Board (DNB) qualification, it is considered equivalent to an MD/MS or DM/MCh if awarded by a medical institution with an attached hospital of 500 or more beds. In other cases, an additional year of senior residency in a medical college is necessary for the qualification to be considered equivalent for teaching purposes.
Working candidates are advised to apply through the proper channel and must provide a No Objection Certificate from their current employer. Those who do not apply through the proper channel must bring the certificate to the interview if shortlisted. Experience certificates must be issued by the Registrar of the concerned university or the General Manager of the industry, and should include the appointment date, duration, and pay scale. Certificates issued by other authorities like a Principal or Dean will not be considered unless the issuing person is authorized to do so and states it on the certificate.
The university has the right to alter or cancel the advertisement at any time and may also adjust the number and nature of posts. It reserves the right to short-list candidates for interviews based on its own criteria, and only those who are short-listed will be contacted.
