    C.P. Radhakrishnan sworn in as 15th Vice President

    C.P. Radhakrishnan has officially become the 15th Vice President of India, after being administered the oath of office by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The former NDA nominee won the Vice Presidential election on September 9 with 452 votes, defeating his opponent B. Sudershan Reddy by a margin of 152 votes.

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi launches Gyan Bharatam Mission

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the Gyan Bharatam Mission, which he stated is set to become the “voice of India’s culture, literature and consciousness.” Speaking at the International Conference on Gyan Bharatam in New Delhi, the Prime Minister launched the Gyan Bharatam Portal, a new digital platform designed to digitize, preserve, and provide public access to India’s vast collection of manuscripts.

    UPI transaction limit for merchants raised to ₹10 lakh

    The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has announced a significant increase in the UPI transaction limit for Person-to-Merchant payments. Effective September 15, users can conduct daily transactions of up to ₹10 lakh for select, verified categories. The daily limit for Person-to-Person transfers remains unchanged at ₹1 lakh.

    India and EU working on a Free Trade Agreement

    Union Minister Piyush Goyal stated that India and the European Union are working to finalize a “comprehensive and balanced” Free Trade Agreement. The agreement is expected to benefit businesses and consumers on both sides, though Goyal emphasized that any such deal would require a degree of give-and-take from both parties.

    Prime Minister to inaugurate new railway line in Mizoram

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the Bairabi-Sairang new railway line project in Mizoram. This new line will connect Mizoram’s capital, Aizawl, to the Indian Railways network for the first time. Over 51 kilometer rail line has been constructed at a cost of around 8 thousand crore rupees. With this project, Aizawl becomes the fourth northeastern capital city after Guwahati, Agartala, and Itanagar to be connected to the Indian Railways network, opening avenues for trade, tourism, and economic growth. The project features 45 tunnels and 55 major bridges. The Prime Minister will also flag off three new train services: the Aizawl-Delhi Rajdhani Express, the Sairang-Kolkata Express, and the Sairang-Guwahati Express.

    Sushila Karki becomes interim Prime Minister of Nepal

    Former Chief Justice Sushila Karki has been appointed as the interim Prime Minister of Nepal, following the resignation of KP Oli. This makes her the first woman to lead an interim government in the country. Karki, who served as Nepal’s first female Chief Justice from 2016 to 2017, was selected for the role after a consensus was reached among protesters, the President, and the army chief.

    Russia halts peace talks with Ukraine
