TIFR invites applications for faculty positions at Professor, Associate Professor, or Reader levels
Overview
The Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) has issued Advertisement1 No. 2025/13, inviting applications for faculty positions at the Professor, Associate Professor, or Reader levels. The evaluation period for these applications is from July 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025.
TIFR is an autonomous institution under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, and is a deemed university. It is located at , Homi Bhabha Road, Colaba, Mumbai – 400005, India.
The faculty positions are available in the following disciplines:
- Mathematics
- Physical Sciences
- Chemical Sciences
- Biology and Life Sciences
- Computer Science; Learning, Information, and Data Science
- Science Education Research
Candidates for all areas must have a Ph.D. from a recognized institution and an outstanding research career by international standards. Those with excellent academic records, a Ph.D. in any of the listed areas, and appropriate postdoctoral research experience with novel and impactful work are encouraged to apply for tenure-track academic positions at the Reader level. Outstanding candidates with fresh Ph.D.’s may also apply. Applicants with proven research leadership and more experience will be considered for tenured academic positions as Associate Professor or Professor.
A successful candidate is expected to lead a research program and participate in training students at the TIFR Graduate School. Applicants can also propose novel research areas relevant to the department.
Applications can be submitted at any time before the end of the evaluation period, and the review process will begin upon receipt of the application. The prescribed qualifications are minimum requirements and do not guarantee an interview. TIFR reserves the right not to fill positions if no suitable candidate is found. Any corrigendum to the advertisement will be issued only on the Institute’s website. Applications must be submitted directly to the Heads of individual Departments/Schools/Centres listed at the end of the advertisement.
