Online applications invited for Sports Quota posts in Pay Matrix Level 1 to 5

CHENNAI – The Southern Railway Railway Recruitment Cell has issued an employment notice, RRC-02/Sports/2025-26, dated September 13, 2025, inviting online applications from eligible Indian citizens who are sports persons for recruitment against the sports quota for the year 2025-26.

The recruitment is for posts in Pay Matrix Level-1 to Pay Matrix Level-5 of the 7th C.P.C.

The online application process begins on September 13, 2025, at 09:00 Hrs and will close on October 12, 2025, at 23:59 Hrs.

Eligibility and Qualifications

Age Limit

Candidates must be between 18 and 25 years old as of January 1, 2026. This means candidates should have been born between January 2, 2001, and January 1, 2008 (inclusive of both dates). There will be no age relaxation (upper or lower).

Educational Qualifications

The minimum educational qualifications vary by pay level:

Level 1: 10th Pass or ITI or equivalent or NAC granted by NCVT.
Level 2/3: 12th Pass (+2 stage) or equivalent, or Matriculation plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship or ITI approved by NCVT/SCVT for technical categories.
Level 4/5: Graduation.

Level 4 & 5 vacancies are for Athletics (Women), Boxing (Women), Cricket (Men), and Tennis (Men).
Level 2 & 3 vacancies include Athletics (Men & Women), Basketball (Men & Women), Boxing (Men), Cricket (Men & Women), Golf (Men), Swimming (Men), and Tennis (Men).
Level 1 vacancies are for Athletics (Men & Women), Basketball (Men), Boxing (Men & Women), Cricket (Men & Women), Football (Men), Golf (Men), Hockey (Men), Swimming (Men), and Weightlifting (Men & Women).

Application and Recruitment Process

How to Apply

Eligible candidates must apply online through the RRC Chennai website at www.rrcmas.in. Applicants must have a valid personal email ID and mobile number, which should be kept active throughout the recruitment process.¹ ²

Application Fees

General candidates: A fee of ₹500/- is required. Of this, ₹400/- will be refunded after the candidate appears for the trials.
Concession categories (SC/ST/Women/Ex-Servicemen/Persons with Disabilities/Minority communities/Economically Backward Classes): A fee of ₹250/- is required, which will be fully refunded upon appearing for the trials.
Fee payment must be made online using a Debit Card, Credit Card, or Internet Banking.

Selection Procedure

The recruitment process will be based on a combination of trials, assessment of sports achievements, and educational qualifications.

Trials: All eligible candidates will be called for trials to assess their sports performance and suitability. Candidates who are found “FIT” will be considered for the next stage.
Marking Scheme: The total marks are out of 100, distributed as follows:
- Game Skill, Physical Fitness, and Coach’s Observation during Trials: 40 Marks
- Assessment of recognized sports achievements: 50 Marks
- Educational Qualification: 10 Marks

Minimum Qualifying Marks

Level 4/5: 70 marks
Level 2/3: 65 marks
Level 1: 60 marks

Important Notes

Candidates must produce original documents for verification on the day of the trials.
Candidates must attend the trials and document verification at their own expense and arrange their own travel and stay.
The sports achievements must be from the current and/or immediate previous two financial years (i.e., on or after April 1, 2023, until the date of the notification).
Candidates who fulfill the minimum sports norms for a higher pay level can apply for a lower pay level but must give an undertaking that they will not claim a higher pay level after joining the Railways.
