    Direct Recruitment Opportunity for an Unreserved Post

    The Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), under the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, has announced a vacancy for a Senior Medical Officer (SMO). Applications are open to Indian citizens for this position, which will be filled through direct recruitment. The advertisement was previously published in All India National Dailies on August 9, 2025.

    Key Details of the Vacancy

    The single vacancy is for an Unreserved (UR) candidate. The successful applicant will be placed in Level-11 of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC), with a pay scale of Rs. 67,700-2,08,700 plus a Non-Practising Allowance (NPA).

    The deadline for applications is September 22, 2025. The institute requests that this vacancy be widely publicized to ensure a broad reach for potential applicants.

    Eligibility Criteria and Application Process

    Qualifications and Experience

    Candidates must meet specific qualifications and experience requirements for the Senior Medical Officer position:

    • A Postgraduate (PG) degree in Medicine/MD (Ayurveda) from a recognized university and be a registered medical practitioner.
    • OR an MBBS/BAMS degree with at least 55% marks, along with five years of experience as a Medical Officer in Pay Level-10 (Rs. 56,100-177,500) or an equivalent position.
    • Desirable qualifications include a Ph.D. and published research work of high standard. The selected officer’s duties will involve diagnosing and treating patients, staff, and students of the institute.

    Age Limit

    The age limit for applicants is 40 years as of the closing date for applications. This age limit is relaxable by five years for employees of government, public sector undertakings (PSUs), and autonomous/statutory bodies, as well as for SC/ST/OBC candidates as per government instructions.

    Application Fee and Submission

    Applicants must submit a non-refundable application fee of Rs. 1,000 via a Demand Draft (DD). The DD should be drawn in favor of the “Director, Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga” and payable at New Delhi. The candidate’s name, category, and the post applied for must be written on the back of the DD. There is no application fee for SC/ST, OBC, Ex-Servicemen, Persons with Disabilities, widows, divorcees, and government servants.

    The application should be neatly typed on A4 size paper, and must include two recent passport-size photos and self-attested copies of all relevant certificates, mark sheets, and testimonials. The completed application must be sent to the following address by Registered AD/Speed Post:

    The envelope must be superscribed with “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF SENIOR MEDICAL OFFICER”.1

    Important Terms and Conditions

    General Conditions

    • The applicant must be an Indian citizen and fulfill all essential requirements by the last date of application.
    • Applications for those with part-time, daily wage, or visiting faculty experience will not be counted as valid experience.
    • Candidates working in Central/State/Autonomous bodies/PSUs must apply through the proper channel. An advance copy of the application may be submitted, but a ‘No Objection’ certificate from their employer is required at the time of the interview.
    • Any information found to be incorrect at any stage will lead to disqualification.
    • Shortlisted candidates will be notified of the interview/written test via email or speed post. Candidates are responsible for their own travel costs to the interview, though SC/ST/OBC candidates may be reimbursed for second-class rail fare.
    • The final appointment is subject to a physical fitness examination by a Competent Medical Board.

    Rejection of Applications

    Applications are likely to be rejected for several reasons, including but not limited to:

    • Being received after the closing date.
    • Not being in the prescribed format.
    • Lacking the required qualifications, experience, or supporting documents.
    • Not including a recent photo.
    • Not being forwarded through the proper channel for in-service candidates.
