    The Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) has issued an advertisement, Advertisement No. 05/2025, inviting online applications from eligible candidates for the recruitment of Assistant Teachers (Primary) within the Government of NCT of Delhi. The total number of vacancies is 1,180. The application window is open from September 17, 2025, at 12:00 PM and will close on October 16, 2025, at 11:59 PM.

    Vacancy Details and Departments

    A total of 1,180 vacancies have been announced for the post of Assistant Teacher (Primary). These positions are distributed across two departments: the Directorate of Education and the New Delhi Municipal Council. The vacancies are categorized as follows:

    • Directorate of Education (Post Code 802/25): 1,055 total vacancies, including 434 for UR, 278 for OBC, 153 for SC, 62 for ST, and 128 for EWS. Additionally, 55 vacancies are for PWBD candidates.
    • New Delhi Municipal Council (Post Code 802/25): 125 total vacancies, with 68 for UR, 28 for OBC, 13 for SC, 7 for ST, and 9 for EWS. Six vacancies are reserved for PWBD candidates.

    The advertised vacancies are tentative and based on inputs from the departments.

    Eligibility and Application Process

    Educational Qualifications

    Candidates must meet specific educational qualifications for the Assistant Teacher (Primary) role. For both departments, a pass in the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is essential.

    • For the Directorate of Education, candidates must have a Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education. Other acceptable qualifications include Senior Secondary with 45% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (as per NCTE regulations-2002), Senior Secondary with 50% marks and a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.), Senior Secondary with 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education), or a Graduation with a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education. Candidates must also have passed Hindi or Urdu or Punjabi or English as a subject at the secondary level.
    • For the New Delhi Municipal Council, essential qualifications include being a 12th-pass with 50% marks (5% relaxation for SC/ST), a 2-year Diploma/Certificate course in Primary Education (ETE/JBT/DIET/B.El.Ed.) from a recognized institution, and having passed Hindi as a subject in the 10th class.

    The eligibility criteria, including educational qualifications, will be determined as of the closing date of the application, October 16, 2025.

    Age Limit and Relaxation

    The age limit for the position is not exceeding 30 years. Age relaxation is available for various categories:

    • SC/ST: 5 years.
    • OBC: 3 years.
    • PwBD + UR/EWS: 10 years.
    • PwBD + SC/ST: 15 years.
    • PwBD + OBC: 13 years.
    • Departmental candidates with at least three years of continuous service are eligible for up to a 5-year age relaxation for Group B posts.
    • Contract/Guest Teachers of the Directorate of Education may be eligible for a one-time age relaxation up to the actual time spent as a contractual employee, with a maximum of 5 years, provided they have worked for at least 120 working days in that particular year.

    Application Fee and Submission

    The application fee is ₹100. However, women candidates and candidates belonging to Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribe, PwBD, and Ex-servicemen categories are exempted from paying the Application fee. The fee must be paid online via SBI e-pay, as other modes of payment will not be accepted.

    Applications must be submitted online. Only one online registration is allowed per candidate. Submitting multiple registrations or applications will result in the cancellation of candidature.

    Examination Scheme and Selection Process

    Examination Details

    The recruitment process involves a One Tier Examination for the post of Assistant Teacher (Primary). The exam will have a duration of 2 hours and consist of 200 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) for a total of 200 marks. The questions will be bilingual (Hindi and English).

    The exam syllabus is divided into two sections:

    • Section A (100 marks): This section includes General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Arithmetical & Numerical Ability, English Language & Comprehension, and Hindi Language & Comprehension, with 20 marks for each subject.
    • Section B (100 marks): This section is based on the NCTE curriculum, including teaching methodology, and consists of 100 questions.

    Minimum Qualifying Marks and Negative Marking

    To be considered for the final merit list, candidates must meet the minimum qualifying marks in the domain subject specific i.e. Section-B. There is no minimum qualifying mark for Section-A. The combined marks of both Section-A and Section-B will be used to prepare the final merit list.

    The minimum qualifying marks are as follows:

    • General/EWS: 40%.
    • OBC (Delhi): 35%.
    • SC/ST/PH (PwBD): 30%.

    Negative Marking will be applicable, with a deduction of 0.25 marks for each wrong Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) answer.

    Final Selection and Post Preference

    The final selection and department allocation will be based on merit-cum-preference. Candidates must exercise their preference for the departments (Directorate of Education or New Delhi Municipal Council) at the time of online e-dossier submission. Preferences, once confirmed, are final and cannot be changed. A candidate who secures a post based on their first available preference will not be considered for subsequent preferences.
