    New Opportunity for GATE-Qualified Candidates

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), through its Recruitment & Assessment Centre (RAC), has issued a public notice regarding the direct recruitment of Scientist ‘B’ posts. This announcement is a significant development for aspiring candidates who hold a valid Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) score.

According to the notice, DRDO plans to notify vacancies for the Scientist ‘B’ position in the coming months of 2026. The number of vacancies will be determined based on the organization’s requirements.

    Selection Process

The selection process for the Scientist ‘B’ position will be based on a combination of a valid GATE score and a subsequent written test or interview. Only candidates with a valid GATE score as of the crucial date of eligibility will be considered for shortlisting.

The recruitment drive is not limited to engineering disciplines; it also extends to candidates from Life Sciences and Humanities/Social Sciences who have appeared for the GATE examination. This inclusive approach broadens the scope for a diverse pool of talent to contribute to India’s defence research.

Special Provisions for Psychology Stream Candidates

A special note has been included for candidates from the Psychology stream. Their shortlisting for the interview will be based on their valid GATE score in the Psychology discipline (GATE code: XH). This specific mention highlights the importance of psychological expertise within the defence sector, likely for roles related to human factors, personnel selection, and military psychology.

    Upcoming Details

The detailed advertisement, including comprehensive eligibility criteria, will be published in the Employment News and on the official website of the RAC at www.rac.gov.in as and when the requirement arises. Prospective candidates are advised to regularly check these platforms for updates.1
