Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
For Advertisement Numbers 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 76 & 78/2025 (Homeopathy)
- Essential:
- BHMS (Bachelor of Homeopathy Medicine and Surgery) degree from a recognized university, included in the Second Schedule of the National Homeopathy Commission/Central Council of Homeopathic, New Delhi.
- MD (Homeopathic) qualification, included in the Second Schedule of the National Homeopathy Commission/Central Homeopathic Council, New Delhi.
- Completion of compulsory internship training.
- Up-to-date registration with the Bihar State Homeopathic Medical Board, Bihar, Patna, and postgraduate homeopathic qualification must be included in the State Register of the Board, or registration with the Bihar State Homeopathic Medical Board, Patna, will be mandatory before joining.
- Must have passed the National Teacher Eligibility Test as per National Homeopathy Commission letter no. 7350-7363, dated 20.12.2024, applicable to students admitted from the academic session 2021-2022 after the NCH Act came into effect, and/or must have obtained a Teacher Code.
- Preferential Qualification: 2 years of work experience as R.M.O. and/or House Physician in a Homeopathic Medical College’s attached Homeopathic Hospital approved by the National Homeopathy Commission/Central Government.
Alternatively (for certain advertisements):
- Essential:
- MBBS degree from a recognized university approved by the Medical Council of India/National Medical Commission.
- Postgraduate medical qualification in the relevant subject, approved by MCI/NMC.
- Completion of compulsory internship training.
- Up-to-date registration with the Medical Council of India/State Government.
- Preferential Qualification: 2 years of work experience as R.M.O. and/or House Physician in a Medical College’s attached hospital approved by the Medical Council of India/Central Government.

- For Doctors serving in Bihar State AYUSH Medical Service: Maximum age limit is 50 years. A certificate related to working in Bihar State AYUSH Medical Service must be submitted to avail age relaxation.
- Age Relaxation:
- Candidates who meet the maximum age limit between August 1, 2017, and August 1, 2025, are eligible for certain advertisements (excluding 72/2025 to 76/2025), provided they fulfill other qualifications.
- Regularly appointed government servants of the Bihar Government are eligible for a 5-year relaxation in the upper age limit for higher pay scale services/cadres, provided they have not exhausted 5 opportunities. A certificate from the competent authority must be submitted to claim age relaxation as a Bihar Government servant.
- Persons with disabilities are eligible for an additional 10 years of relaxation in the upper age limit. A certificate from the competent authority must be submitted, which should be valid until the last date of application.
- Ex-servicemen are eligible for a 3-year relaxation plus the period of service rendered in defense services, provided their actual age on the date of application does not exceed 57 years. A relevant certificate must be submitted to claim age relaxation as an ex-serviceman.
Selection Process
The selection process will be based on a comparative merit assessment of marks obtained in various criteria, totaling 50 marks.
- Academic Performance (BHMS/MBBS University Examinations): Marks will be awarded based on the total marks obtained in all university examinations.
- 75% and above: 20 marks
- 70% and above: 19 marks
- 65% and above: 18 marks
- 60% and above: 17 marks
- 55% and above: 16 marks
- 50% and above: 15 marks
- Postgraduate Degree in Homeopathy: 10 marks.
- Work Experience (Contractual Appointment in Government Educational Sector): 2 marks per year, with a maximum of 10 marks. The prescribed format for the work experience certificate is available on the BPSC website. Only contractual work experience in non-private (Central Government, Municipal, Panchayati Raj institutions) homeopathic medical colleges/hospitals within Bihar State will be considered valid. The controlling officer of the concerned institution will be the competent authority to issue the work experience certificate.
- Interview: 06 marks. A minimum of 02 marks is required to qualify in the interview separately.
- Original Publications as Main Author in Recognized Journals: 04 marks (02 marks for each publication). The candidate will be considered the original author only if the concerned professor/head of department/guide under whom the paper was prepared provides a certificate to that effect. The prescribed format for this certificate and the list of recognized journals are available on the BPSC website.1
- No additional marks will be given for duplication of similar degrees from other boards or universities.
- Minimum Qualifying Marks: Candidates must obtain a minimum of 25 marks to be eligible for appointment as Assistant Professor.
- Tie-breaking Rule: In case of a tie in marks, candidates older in age will be shortlisted. However, if a tie exists and an older candidate does not possess the preferential qualification while a younger candidate does, the candidate with the preferential qualification will be selected.
Reservation
- Reservation benefits will only be applicable to candidates whose permanent residence is in Bihar State.
- Claiming reservation in the online application form is mandatory; otherwise, no reservation benefit will be provided at any stage of the examination.
- For Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates: Caste certificate and permanent residence/domicile certificate are mandatory. The permanent residence/domicile certificate and caste certificate issued by the Circle Officer (Anchaladhikari) of the State Government at the circle level, located in their permanent domicile circle, will be considered valid.
- For Backward Class and Extremely Backward Class candidates: Non-Creamy Layer certificate is mandatory. The Non-Creamy Layer certificate issued by the Revenue Officer/Circle Officer of the State Government at the circle level, located in their permanent domicile circle, will be considered valid.
