The vacancies are for the post of Computer Operator in the office of the Assam Public Service Commission.
Pay Scale
The appointed candidates will receive a pay scale of Rs.14,000/- to Rs.60,500/- along with a grade pay of Rs.6200/- under Pay Band -2.
Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit
The age limit for the candidates is set between 18 years and 40 years as on 01-01-2024 as per Govt. O.M. However, there are exceptions for SC/ST candidates (up to 45 years) and Persons with Disabilities (PWD) (up to ten years irrespective of SC/ST/OBC/MOBC and General Category candidates).
Educational Qualifications
Candidates must have passed Higher Secondary Class from a recognized Board/Council. They should also have a good working knowledge of office productivity software tools (independent of any operating system i.e MS Windows, Linux, Mac etc.) such as Word Processor, Spreadsheet, Presentation Graphics, Content of Databases, Internet and e-Mail.
Experience
Candidates must have a minimum of six months completed diploma/certificate in computer proficiency from a recognized institution; no breaks in qualification admissible and must have computing knowledge in Assamese language.
Registration in Employment Exchange of Assam
Applicants must have registration number in the Employment Exchange in the state of Assam.
Domicile Proof
A domicile proof of the candidate for the post of Computer Operator is mandatory along with Permanent Resident Certificate in Assam or educational purpose / Employment Exchange Registration Certificate.

Selection Procedure
Candidates will be selected based on their performance in a written test and computer proficiency practical test conducted by APSC after scrutinizing all received applications for eligibility and other criteria.
Candidates will undergo two phases of selection:
- Phase-I consists of a Screening Test (OMR based) of 100 marks.
- Phase-II involves a Computer Practical Test (including Speed Test) also of 100 marks.
Four candidates will be shortlisted on their performance basis in Screening Test for each vacancy. The shortlisted candidates have to appear for Computer Proficiency Practical Test held centrally in Guwahati along with original testimonials.

Those who haven’t registered yet on Online Recruitment Portal of APSC are required first to register themselves by clicking on ‘Register Here’ link and complete One Time Registration (OTR) process providing basic details.
After creating an account, applicants need to log in with credentials, fill up and submit their applications online only after uploading required documents such as Personal Information, Educational Qualification, Photo (Min size-50 KB & Max size-200 KB), Signature (Min size-50 KB & Max size-200 KB), etc., within stipulated time as per instructions available at One Time Registration desk.
