    The Regional Passport Office, Visakhapatnam, which operates under the Ministry of External Affairs, has issued a vacancy circular inviting applications for one position of Young Professional on a contractual basis. The engagement is initially for a period of one year, but can be extended for a maximum tenure of up to three years, subject to satisfactory annual performance and approval from the competent authority.

    Eligibility and Remuneration

    To be considered for the role, applicants must have at least a graduate degree or equivalent from a recognized university. While not mandatory, candidates with one year or more of experience in a government setting will be given preference. The age limit for applicants is below 40 years as of the advertisement date.

    The monthly remuneration is based on the candidate’s highest degree:

    • Graduate: ₹50,000/-
    • Post Graduate: ₹60,000/-

    It’s important to note that no other allowances are admissible to the Young Professional.


    Scope of Duties and Working Conditions

    The Young Professional will perform duties as assigned by the Passport Officer or Head of Office. These duties may include work related to administration, accounts, legal affairs, and social media. The ideal candidate should have adequate proficiency in handling social media and possess a good command of Hindi, Telugu, and English. Preferred media skills include photography, videography, editing, and monitoring social media, along with adequate computer skills.

    The appointment is temporary, and the Ministry can cancel the engagement at any time without providing a reason. The standard notice period for the Ministry to terminate the contract is one month, while the Young Professional must give three months’ notice if they wish to terminate it. During the engagement period, the professional is not permitted to take up any other assignment in the Ministry.

    Working hours will be in accordance with the guidelines of the Regional Passport Office, Visakhapatnam. However, the role may require working beyond standard office hours in the public interest. The position is based at the Regional Passport Office, located near the P.F. Office, Visakhapatnam.


    Leave and Travel Entitlements

    The Young Professional is entitled to 8 days of casual leave in a calendar year on a pro-rata basis, along with 2 restricted holidays. Female Young Professionals may also be eligible for maternity leave as per the Maternity Benefit Act 1961, as amended in 2017.

    Domestic travel may be required as part of the official duties, subject to approval. For such travel, the following reimbursements are allowed:

    • Journey: Economy class air travel or AC Two-Tier rail travel.
    • Hotel: Up to ₹750/- per day.
    • Taxi: Up to ₹225/- per day for travel within the city.
    • Food: Up to ₹800/- per day.

    Interested candidates can apply by sending their application to the Regional Passport Office, Visakhapatnam. The application can be submitted via email to rpo.vizag@.mea.gov.in, with the subject clearly mentioned in the email, or by post using the enclosed proforma as Annexure-I.

    Applicants must submit documentary evidence for their date of birth, educational qualifications, and any previous employment. A valid personal email ID is required, and it must be kept active throughout the engagement process as all communications will be sent to it.

    The last date for applications to be received is 21 days from the date of the advertisement’s publication. The Regional Passport Office reserves the right to accept or reject applications without providing any reasons.
