    Temporary JRF Post Available Under Cotton Quality Project

    Mumbai, September 11, 2025 — The ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology (CIRCOT) in Mumbai has announced a walk-in-interview for one temporary post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF). The position is for a project titled ‘Development of Portable Instrument to Measure Cotton Quality at Farm Gate and Textile Industries’. This project is funded by the Rajiv Gandhi Science and Technology Commission, Mumbai. The appointment is temporary and contractual, lasting for 3 years or until the project’s completion, whichever comes first.

    The walk-in-interview is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at the ICAR-CIRCOT campus on Adenwala Road, Matunga (East), Mumbai. Candidates are required to be present 30 minutes before the scheduled time for necessary formalities. No separate interview call letters will be issued to candidates.

    Key Details and Eligibility Criteria

    Pay and Qualifications

    The selected JRF will receive a fellowship of Rs. 37,000 per month plus HRA for the first two years, and Rs. 42,000 per month plus HRA for the third year, subject to a performance review.

    Essential qualifications for the post include:

    • An M.E/M.Tech. in Textile Technology, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Computer Science & Technology, Information Technology, or Mechanical Engineering with a 4/5-year bachelor’s degree.
    • Candidates with an M.E/M.Tech in other disciplines may also be considered if they have relevant knowledge in instrumentation, algorithm, or embedded systems development.
    • Alternatively, a B.E/B.Tech in one of the specified engineering fields with a valid GATE/JRF qualification is also acceptable.

    Candidates should have an overall CGPA of 1st class or 60% marks or equivalent. Desirable qualifications include experience in instrument design and development, electronic circuit board testing, software development, and research paper writing.

    Age Limit and Application Process

    The age limit for the post is 35 years for men and 40 years for women as of the interview date. Age relaxations of 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates are permissible as per Government of India rules.

    Interested candidates must submit their application, detailed bio-data (as per Annexure-I), a recent passport-sized photograph, and self-attested copies of certificates for age, qualifications, and experience. The application and all documents must be sent in a single PDF file via email to Dr. Jagaganantha, Principal Investigator of the project, at ursjag@gmail.com. The deadline for this email submission is 5:30 PM on September 16, 2025.

    On the interview day, candidates must bring their application, bio-data, and original documents for verification. Employed candidates must also present a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their current employer.1

    Terms of Employment

    The place of work will be ICAR-CIRCOT, Mumbai, although the selected candidate may need to travel within India for project-related work. The appointment is strictly temporary and will be terminated upon the project’s completion. There are no provisions for absorption or re-employment at ICAR-CIRCOT or ICAR once the project ends. No travel or daily allowances will be paid for attending the interview or joining the post. The decision of the Director of ICAR-CIRCOT will be final in all matters regarding the selection.
