Bhopal – In a significant move to bolster the state’s law enforcement capabilities, the Madhya Pradesh government has announced plans to recruit 22,500 police personnel over the next three years. This major recruitment drive aims to strengthen law and order and ensure adequate preparedness for the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela, scheduled for 2028.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has confirmed that the recruitment will be conducted systematically, with 7,500 new personnel being hired each year. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to modernize and improve the functioning of the state’s Home Department.
To streamline the hiring process, a new and dedicated “Madhya Pradesh Police Recruitment Board” will be constituted, which will take over the recruitment responsibilities starting in 2026. For the current recruitment year of 2025, the Staff Selection Board will continue to manage the hiring process.
In addition to the large-scale recruitment, the government is also taking steps to address pending departmental matters. A joint meeting of the Home and Finance Departments is planned to resolve long-standing issues and accelerate the modernization efforts across all services related to the Home Department.
Further demonstrating its commitment to the welfare of police families, the Chief Minister has also announced a special seat reservation for the widows and children of police, jail, and home guard personnel who have been martyred. This reservation will apply to various graduate-level courses, providing educational support to the families of fallen heroes.
To boost morale and recognize the demanding nature of their work, special and risk allowances will be provided to deputy superintendents of police and other senior officers. This includes those serving in VVIP security details, aiming to improve overall departmental performance and functioning.1
