Scholarships Announced for Scheduled Caste Students
NEW DELHI — The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment Government of India, has officially announced the launch of the Post-Matric Scholarships Scheme for SC students for the academic year 2025-26. The initiative aims to provide financial support to Scheduled Caste (SC) students pursuing higher education, ensuring that economic constraints do not hinder their academic aspirations.
Key Eligibility and Scope
To be eligible for the scholarship, a student’s parents’ or guardians’ annual income must not exceed ₹2.50 Lakh. The scheme is open to students enrolled in recognized institutions, universities, colleges, and schools across India. The scholarship’s scope is extensive, covering all recognized courses from Class XI onwards. Applications will be meticulously verified by respective State Governments and Union Territories to ensure the benefits reach the most deserving students. A special emphasis has been placed on covering the poorest households.
Entitlement and Benefits
Recipients of the scholarship will receive significant financial assistance. The entitlement includes the full payment of compulsory non-refundable fees, which covers tuition. Additionally, an academic allowance will be provided, with amounts ranging from ₹2,500 to ₹13,500 per annum. Recognizing the specific needs of specially-abled students, the scheme also offers a 10% extra allowance for Divyang students.
Application Requirements and Process
To apply, students must possess several crucial documents and details. These include a valid Mobile Number, Aadhaar Number (UID), and an Aadhaar-seeded Bank Account. Furthermore, applicants must provide an Income Certificate, their Previous Year Marksheet, and a Caste Certificate. The government has streamlined the application process by providing detailed guidelines and eligibility criteria online.
