The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI), under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India, is inviting applications for the position of Consultant (Business Development) for its Patna Regional Office. This is a purely contractual position, initially for a period of two years, with the possibility of yearly extensions based on satisfactory performance.1

Position
- Consultant (Business Development): 1 position for NW-1/Patna RO
Remuneration
- For Central/State Government/Retired PSU employees/Retired IITians: Last pay drawn minus pension plus allowance
- For Non-Government/Private/Consultancy Firms/Multinational Organizations: Rs. 1,00,000-1,20,000 per month
- Transport Allowance: Rs. 3,600 per month
- For IDA employees: Retired employees in IDA scales re-engaged as Consultants will be paid monthly remuneration @ 50% of Basic pay drawn plus CDA (where no pension is drawn) or last Basic Pay minus pension plus CDA (where pension is drawn)

Qualification
- Mandatory: Master’s (preferred) in Business Administration/Logistics/Supply Chain Management
- Desirable: Negotiation Skills and regional business acumen
Experience
- 10-15 years of overall experience
- Candidates should have 7-10 years of relevant experience in logistics or maritime sectors
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and communicate results effectively
Responsibilities
- Regional Market intelligence
- Client relationship management
- Address pricing/policy bottlenecks
- Promote Inland Water Transport (IWT) in emerging sectors
- Execute pilots and marketing efforts
- Facilitation and promotion to river cruise operation
KPIs (Key Performance Indicators)
- Monthly: Market report, Supply chain analysis of commodities, Interaction with stakeholders, Awareness campaigns planning, Search for opportunity for modal shift to IWT mode, Updation of data
Performance Metrics
- Cargo volume growth
- New client acquisition
- Market expansion
- Performance will be linked to tonnage volume and long-term contracts secured
