DRDO’s DIBT Invites Applications for Research Fellowships with Valid Grant Agency Funding
Opportunities for Ph.D. Research in Food Science, Biotechnology, and Allied Fields
Mysuru – The Defence Institute of Biofence Technologies (DIBT), a premier establishment under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India, has announced an open call for applications from young and motivated researchers. The institute is seeking to engage Research Fellows who hold a valid fellowship from recognised grant agencies such as CSIR, UGC, DBT, DST, or ICMR.
The engagement is specifically for research in fields critical to DIBT’s mandate, which includes developing detection technologies, fast-acting antidotes against toxic biological/chemical agents, and focusing on Nutrition. Selected candidates will have the opportunity to register for a Ph.D. at either the University of Mysore, Mysuru, or Bharathiar University, Coimbatore.

Key Guidelines for Applicants
The position is designated as “Non-DRDO Junior Research Fellow (JRF).” The monthly fellowship, contingencies, and other monetary benefits will be determined as per the norms of the individual’s existing fellowship from their sponsoring organisation.
- Age Limit: The upper age limit for applicants is 28 years as on the closing date, with relaxations applicable for SC/ST (5 years) and OBC (3 years) candidates as per Government rules.
- Tenure: The initial tenure for the Junior Research Fellowship is two years, with a possibility of extension for another two years as a Senior Research Fellow (SRF), subject to satisfactory performance review by a DRDO Fellowship Appraisal Agency.
- Application Process: Candidates must send their complete application, along with self-attested copies of educational qualifications, valid fellowship proof (NET/GATE/Date of Ph.D reference), caste certificate (if applicable), and two photographs. Those working in Government/PSU/Autonomous Bodies must submit a ‘No Objection Certificate’.
- Last Date: The deadline for receiving applications is 30 days from the date of publication of the advertisement (27/9/2025).
