ARCI (International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials) in Hyderabad, an autonomous R&D centre of the Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, has announced openings for Scientists positions at various levels on a direct recruitment basis. • Scientist “E”
  • Number of Posts: 3
  • Pay Level: 13 (approx. Rs. 2,38,895/- total emoluments)
  • Upper Age Limit: 45 years
  • Essential Qualification & Experience: Doctorate Degree in Physical Sciences or Master’s Degree in Engineering or Technology with ten years of R&D experience.
  • Desirable: Post Doctorate or Doctorate in Engineering/Technology, experience in conceptualizing and executing R&D projects, and a good publication/patent record.
  • Experience Areas: Development of Li-ion/Na-ion battery materials, large-scale synthesis of inorganic materials for photovoltaics, hydrogen generation, optoelectronic devices, development of nanostructured materials for high-temperature applications, and development of Polymer Electrolyte Membranes (PEM).
  • Selection Mode: Presentation on R&D achievements and projects, followed by a Personal Interview. Candidates must submit a research proposal with their online application.

  • Essential Qualification & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Electronics Engineering with four years of relevant experience.
  • Desirable: Master’s degree in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics, familiarity with electric rate contracts, AMC, coordination with cross-functional teams, and knowledge of safety standards.
  • Experience Areas: Installation, testing, commissioning, operation & maintenance of Sub-stations, DG sets, solar PV units, knowledge of load management, design of LT power systems, and knowledge of IEC, IS, and IEEE codes.
  • Selection Mode: Presentation on Electrical projects handled, followed by a Personal Interview.

  • Desirable: Master’s Degree in any of the above disciplines and one year of R&D experience.

  • Selection Mode: Competitive Written Examination (CWE) followed by Personal Interview.

General Information:

Scientist “B” Written Examination Details: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) for 300 marks (100 questions x 3 marks each) over 3 hours/180 minutes. Section A (90 MCQs) from relevant Science/Engineering disciplines, and Section B (10 MCQs) in analytical skills/logical reasoning. Negative marking of 1 mark for each incorrect answer. Final selection based on 50% weightage for CWE marks and 50% for Personal Interview marks.

Emoluments & Benefits: Salary as per government norms (basic pay, DA, HRA, Transport Allowance). Other benefits include New Pension Scheme (NPS), Gratuity, Group Insurance, Medical Reimbursement, Children Education Allowance, Leave Travel Concession (LTC).

Experience Note: For Scientist “E” and “C”, the period spent on obtaining minimum essential educational qualifications will not count towards experience. For Master’s being the minimum essential qualification, up to two years spent on obtaining a doctorate degree (if awarded) can count towards experience. Full-time employment during the doctorate period will only count for the employment period.
